Positive behaviour support
Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) is based on the idea that behaviours of concern are very often the result of a person need being met in an inappropriate way. PBS looks for ways to meet needs appropriately, enhance quality of life and enrich a person's surroundings in order to reduce their need to use behaviours of concern.
A PBS approach will often be more heavily weighted on increasing the positive aspects of a person's life and helping them to achieve a more fulfilling and meaningful role in their life, community and wider world. PBS is a non-punitive, strengths-based, proactive support style in which prevention and personal growth are quite strongly supported. It makes the most of any situation and looks to accentuate the good. It is an effective, evidence based, goal oriented and outcome focused approach. |
Dealing with challenges

There can be times when the challenges become difficult to deal with, and I can help at all stages of support, from crisis plans, safety plans, quick response plans, assessments, behaviour support plans, restricted practice plans, skill development plans, specific protocols, transition plans, plans for school, respite, day placement, work and more.
I can also help to ensure that plans are well understood by all who work with a person, from parent and staff training, to implementation, coaching, consistency maintenance, monitoring and review. You wont just get a quick 'by the book' plan that you are left to work on alone, I can be there every step of the way to make sure that the plan does what it is meant to. Help. |
